The Devil's Den

A lifetime ago there was a bar called the Devil's Den (later the Pirate's Den) in Sayreville, NJ. It was quite the disreputable place - a real den of iniquity. Bad things usually took place there, lots of fights, a couple of stabbings.

But on Sunday nights for a couple of years, the bar was a safe, fun, exciting place to be. On those Sunday nights a guy named Pat Barton sang. Pat was a load of fun to be around on those nights and really got the crowd into it.

And on those Sunday nights, my friends (mostly that worked with me at the local A/P) and others gathered and sang along with Pat. Some of us were even mentioned in the songs as he sang. I was lucky enough to find a cassette that was recorded on one of the nights he played and I have transferred some songs to the Internet for us all to enjoy.

So to Frank T. (AKA Froto), Diane Z., Sue Ann P., Tommy and all the others that enjoyed Pat's wonderful voice and performances - I hope someday you run across this page and get a nice smile on your face from some great memories!

To everyone else - listen and enjoy.
